Seaside Kitchen

grey traditional kitchen, purple splashback, feature extractor, hidden storage

The Project

Mr and Mrs Barnes wanted to buy their new kitchen from a small, independent company that could make their kitchen the way that they wanted. They had bought a small two bed house on the top of the hill before extending it in three directions to create a beautiful home that makes the most of the far reaching views and natural daylight.

Grey Shaker Door

They chose to have a lay-on door with a simple bead, hand-painted in neutral tones but finished with an eye catching purple glass splash-back. The purple is continued around the kitchen in items such as the stools, flower pots and tea towels. They also had a white Corian top with coved up-stands to bounce the light around and to remove any cracks for germs to hide in.

By using framed end panels around the peninsular, it allows the kitchen to flow the whole way around.

Built in Appliances & Storage

They kept a lot of their existing appliances as freestanding, building them in with specially made cabinets. The fridge is surrounded with two wide larders and top box with a lift up door. Their microwave was built into a wall cabinet to keep the worktop clear as they had chosen to have a double oven and deep warming drawer in the oven housing.

They had a specially made cupboard to store their appliances with a deep drawer the depth of the door and a small internal drawer to keep all the accessories and other paraphernalia.

A PWS pull out to store their tea towels and washing up liquids is the only other internal in this kitchen as they wanted something simple and functional.

Snug Storage

Because they liked being able to have bespoke furniture for the same price as buying items off the shelf, they also commissioned a bookshelf for the snug where they could keep all of their photo albums and DVD players.

A similar kitchen would cost £15-20K
