A Rustic Oak Kitchen

traditional oak kitchen, period features, low chimney breast, open shelf

The Project

This rustic oak kitchen is beautifully decorated with handmade objects such as the crockery set from the markets in Poland or the sturdy wooden table surrounded by an eclectic mix of chairs that welcomes hoards of people into the heart of the home. A beautiful collection of copper pots and pans over the chimney combined with the stone effect Karndean floor brings this rustic kitchen to life.

Kitchen Alcove

The alcove was decorated with a chunky floating oak shelf with down lights over the one and a half stainless steel bowl from Blanco. The Ivory Fantasy granite was extended inside the alcove to provide an extra deep worktop which is perfect for keeping pots of utensils out of the way of this working space. The granite also extends up the back of the hob as a splashback and really shows off the beautiful swirls of colour.

Character Features

The old chimney breast was much too low to be usable for cooking and so two drawers were placed inside with a worktop and lighting to provide extra worktop for storing items such as their toaster and microwave. Their oven was set low down for easy reach and the Neff slide and hide door makes cooking a delight. A small larder cupboard sits to the side with spice and oil racks, an internal drawer and dedicated space for storing trays and chopping boards.

Their big American Fridge/Freezer was surrounded with extra tall units scribed to the ceiling to make the most of their height and provide plenty of storage.
